Naturally Kaotik

Can't say I didn't try...
So on the Family Vacay cruise, I kept my hair very natural. I wore it mainly curly and in various ponytails... thinking well i'll be in the pool a lot so what's the point of straightening it. Or it'll already be extra heat so no need to add extra heat to my hair. So anyway, when we got back my aunt flat ironed it for me since I was starting my new job soon. :) :( lol
Well I have this crimper that I bought back in Gainesville in about 2007 and I've used it only once... So I said to myself, "self...lets give this some texture." Broke out the crimper and got to work. I only did the top layer so that my hair will have texture but won't get too big. When I was done I appreciated the unevenness of the texture, but I wasn't sure how long it would last. We went out to the mall and other small errands and it held up pretty well. Next time I will definitely  take my time and create a more exciting look. I have one picture  of it, it's not that great but you'll get the picture. I promise to have a creative look next time...or maybe not.

The Woes
Sooo I washed and Keratin conditioned my hair before Thanksgiving...the dilemma lies in trying to discover what to do with now... All my creative juices are gone. I've literally walked around with it big out of pure laziness. I have these styles in my head and then when I look it's bed time.. so I say ok tomorrow i'll try it... Tomorrow has yet to come.

The Journey Continues (FWD)

After the dying, random cutting and the exception of perms, I went to a Dominican Salon as mentioned before. I DID NOT realize that my hair could be this  straight.

March 2010
November2010

As you can see there was at least a 2 inch growth from March to November. Oh an I cut a bang in between that time (yep got bored again) :)

May 2011
My go to :/
Kind of a back view

So from November 2010 through May 2011 my hair had been very healthy and grown a lot. Mainly because I barely use any substance in my hair. If it wasn't straight I would usually rock the wet curly look. i would condition my hair every morning with Olive oil Leave-In conditioner and then brush it up in a pony tail, while the remainder hangs down in various spirals.

So after graduation, I said to myself " Since you don't have places to go, try new things with you hair and see what works for you." So I listened to myself and here are some outcomes
Trial 1 of the Braid
Trial 2.. Much better

Front of T2
So It's been 4 Months since I've tried a Braid out..

I've been really lazy & putting my hair in random ponytails

and wearing it down or in a curly pony tail.

These last few shots are from Sept-November. I figure if I blog about it then I'll feel more obligated to do more hair trials..eh.. we will see how that goes.
Half braided(HB)          HB & Straightened         1 Month later
                                                                                                     Still straight, Bonnet style

Welp! We are all caught up... Now I can post normally

 WebMD's 20 Hair Secrets

Just received this in my email and it gave a few good points about how to protect and treat your hair, so I figured I'd share.

WebMD's Hair Secrets

Hair~~~~Hair~~~~Hair
So I've been natural my whole life (minus the 1.5 years I experimented with a perm during college, good thing I only used those chemicals 2xs throughout that process) , but in high school I had no idea what to do with it. My friend and I, a fellow blogger (http://thefeistyhouse.blogspot.com/ check it out great info on hairstyles on hair care) used to always rock some form of an Afro puff. It was who we were. Whether we braided the front and put the back in an Afro ponytail or did something else an Afro was always in the mix. I used to try and figure out ways I could go to school with my natural curls without it getting shrinking and frizzing by the end of the day. Never figured that one out. I used to hot comb it straight (IDK why because the humidity always changed it). I would dye it, twist it etc etc...

Skip a few years in college when I started really experimenting... I dyed it again, I cut it (called myself layering it HA!), then I permed it for a year because I got bored. Every time I got bored something changed regarding my hair. I will say since I only permed my hair every 6-7 months it didn't do much damage. In fact my hair got to its longest.

When I entered grad school I decided to change again. No more perms! I began to miss my length...so much. But I continued my regimen since senior yr. of undergrad and refused to put greasy products in my hair that were filled with petroleum...it did nothing but dry my hair out. On lazy days instead of using heat, I'd use water and step out with the wet look (see Natural Pics below). Did that for a good minute.

Last year I started going to a Dominican salon for blow outs. She'd cut my ends (I'm always scared when they do this) and I'd see my retention progress. Now my hair is just as long as it was when it was slightly permed and still growing...
With that explanation out the way, I’m hoping that by creating this page I'd be forcing myself to try different styles and techniques in my hair... I get bored easily and like I mentioned above, boredom=scissors (insert the bangs I keep making)

I'll try adding more pics instead of links to pics...
